Fashion in Italy


Italy is one of the leading countries in fashion design, alongside others such as France, USA, Great Britain and Japan. Fashion has always been an important part of the country’s cultural life and society, and Italians are well known for their attention of dressing-up well; “la bella figura”, or good impression, remains traditional in the Italian way of living. Italy has many different types of brand. One of the brands in Italy is Gucci and it is an Italian fashion and leather goods brand. Gucci is also the biggest-selling Italian brand. Emilio Pucci was a Florentine Italian fashion designer and politician. The first clothes design by Pucci was for the Reed College skiing team. Later on, Pucci decided to create a lingerie line. Roberto Cavalli is an Italian fashion designer from Florence. He is known for detailed exotic prints and for creating the sand-blasted look for jeans which are now a standard style for the majority of jean makers. Laura Biagiotti is an Italian high fashion designer. She was the first Italian designer to present a collection in China. Giorgio Armani is a high-end label specializing in men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, glasses, cosmetics, and perfumes. Emporio Armani line has a high quality in luxury fashion clothes and focus on trends and modern traits. Versace is an Italian fashion company, and it is one of the world’s leading international fashion houses. Versace designs, markets, and distributes luxury clothing, accessories, makeup, and home furnishings under the various brands of the Versace group. Dolce and Gabbana is an Italian luxury industry fashion house. They specialize in luxury items, and also sell sunglasses, clothes, corrective eye wear, purses and watches. Benetton is a global fashion brand; their products include womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and underwear and they have expanded into perfumes, stationery, eyewear and travel bags. Salvatore Ferragamo is an Italian luxury goods company, with headquarters in Florence, specializing in shoes, leather goods, and ready-to-wear for men and women.
